Hello there pen pals,
I am Ms. Drucker. I teach 6th grade in the U.S. I love to teach. My class has 23 students but I teach Writing to all of the sixth graders (about 100 students).
When I am not teaching I like to practice yoga, go hiking, mountain biking, and canoeing. In the winter I snow shoe when there is enough snow. We had a winter storm last week and missed two days of school. It snowed 18 inches. It is very cold here at this time of year. Tonight the temperatures will be below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
I look forward to getting to know all of you through the Internet and letters. Hopefully, we can teach you about our culture and you can teach us about your culture. My students are very excited to get to know you all. They have begun writing you letters.
Maybe one day you will visit the United States and go see the Grand Canyon. Our school is only about one and a half hour's drive away from the Grand Canyon. Have you ever seen pictures of it? Maybe we can send you some. We also live in an area that is rich in Native American cultures such as the Navajo and Hopi tribes. Our state of Arizona borders the country of Mexico and we have many Spanish speakers in this part of the country. Have you ever heard the Spanish language? Ask your teacher Alex to speak a few Spanish words because she speaks Spanish too.
Until the next time,
Ms. Drucker (Ellen)
